Signature Chicken

Chicken skin colour is alright, it is an alluring yellow colour. The deep-fried green onion on the top can surely enhance the overall flavour. Portion is not small, meat texture is good and bouncy. It deserves to be the signature item.

Deep-fried Fish Belly w/ Spiced Salt (椒鹽魚腩)

It is a companion of beer. It is nice to eat such deep-fried fish and chat leisurly at night.

Fried Lotus Root & Pork is very generous in portion.

Encore Fried Dish (安哥小炒) is a dish with dried small fish, dried shrimp and dried squid. It has been steamed with soy sauce for a while. Food materials are not too tender in texture, chewing them completely is needed.

Fried Tofu (紅燒豆腐) is not an expensive dish, but it is very delicious. It is fried with mushroom and oyster sauce. Sophisticated cooking skill is a must for this seem-to-be simple dish.

Fried Italian Spareribs (意大利排骨) is an item with a special name. Only because of this special name, we order it for trial. It is sparerib cooked with tomato and Chinese celery. I guess the name Italian should come from the Italian tomato. It is anyway a local Chinese dish. It is not special in taste at any way.

Soup of White Pepper & Pig Stomach (胡椒豬肚湯) is not spicy and authentic enough. The chef should not be a Chiu Chow guy.

Free dessert (海帶糕)

It is in fact made from kelp, a large seaweed in Asia. It is the first time for us to try in Hong Kong. The taste is good, it is not too sweet. It is a healthy dessert.

It is said that a Chinese eatery at Boundary Street is not bad. We of course would like to create an opportunity to dine together. It is not conveniently accessible, and not close to any MTR stations. With a map and reasonable intelligence, it is definitely not difficult to locate Encore. It is situated in the residential area. It does not have any interior decoration, in my opinion. The shop size is not small, entertaining more than fifty diners at the same time. Frankly speaking, since Encore is far away from Nathan Road, it is not crowded at the time of our patronage.

 

Most dishes are already written on the wall, there are more than fifty dishes, not including live seafood. This is the practice of local eatery. We order many dishes tonight, but most of them are not expensive. We would like to know whether the dishes are cooked with quality. Dishes are cooked with heart and for sure better than quite a lot of chained Chinese restaurants. Besides, pricing is very reasonable. We would like to try again, if time allows.
